Mitzvah over Money

"No, you can't always get what you want and if you try,
sometime you just might find
you get what you need."
                                                                                                                    ~The Stones

Threw out the business plan. Revising expectations. I am choosing mitzvah over money.

"You can get everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want!" proclaimed Zig Ziglar, the recently departed guru of motivation-speak.

Let's change that to read, “You will get everything in life you need, if you will just help other people.”

Helping others is humbling, an experience easily realized using Reiki and the selfless practice of unconditional love. A sense of purpose, happiness, and the feeling of being part of a greater whole, all can be attained by giving to others. So Reiki On!  Anytime, Anywhere, Anyway...

Learnin’ Reiki & Lovin’ It

Back to school and another chance to get it right.  As a teacher, the start of the school year was always a pivotal time for me, full of the potential in new beginnings, the anticipation of growth and development, and the excitement of shared learning.

In truth, adventures in learning continue for a lifetime.  I now delight in watching my Reiki students embrace this calming, healing art, and experience the growth and change that come with practice.

The words of my advanced students speak for them:

Six-word Reiki Memoirs

No expectations. Always amazed and surprised.
Calm when answers are not there.
Feeling comfortable in the Reiki zone.
A totally awesome, self-gratifying experience.
Caramel energy flowing, vibrating my soul.
Always with me all the time.
Adventures in relaxing, resting, and restoring.
Exploring, self-discovery. Helping others heal.
I enjoy giving love through kindness.
Exploring unlimited possibilities, sharing intimate healing.

There is great joy in being a lifelong learner.  Learn Reiki, Do Reiki, Be Reiki!

Cats LOVE Reiki

Give your favorite being the gift of Reiki comfort.  You can provide Reiki for those you love by taking Level 1 Reiki training. I have used Reiki on birds, rabbits, dogs, cats, and horses. They calm with Reiki in a way that is different from mere touch, petting, and even meds.  Reiki is especially important when dealing with recovery or end of life issues.

Learn to Reiki.

You'll be so glad you did...

Reiki, Horses, and Healing

I was excited to be able to give my Reiki students the opportunity to tour Equine Voices Rescue & Sanctuary and offer Reiki to the horses.  I knew that it would be a moving experience, but our visit proved to be so much more. Connections were made and hearts touched; it was transformative.

Many of us have benefited from HRT and drug industry practices that condone cruelty. Mares used in the production of Premarin exhibit the same loss of spirit as victims of domestic violence.  Abuse is abuse is abuse… It is soul deadening.

At Equine Voices rescued horses receive loving care, are given freedom to move about and time to heal.  What powerful examples, these mares, of resilience, recovery, and renewal.

We all have an innate ability to heal. Reiki balances us and facilitates the body’s natural healing, while also serving as a catalyst for change on the emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.  Used daily, Reiki self-treatment offers the frequency of exposure that enhances our capacity to overcome what is hurtful and harmful.

Equine-assisted therapy is being used to help humans heal. My students and I were privileged to be able to use Reiki to help horses heal.

Reiki Practicum

“Knowing is not enough; we must Apply.
Willing is not enough; we must Do.”
~ Goethe

What a wonderful concept, Practicum, an opportunity for my students to gather together for a casual evening to share Reiki experiences, treatments, food and good company.  We begin with a Reiki drumming meditation followed by 4-position self-treatment, move on to discuss all things Reiki, and end with Reiki “shares.”  We refine our skills and learn from one another, although I suspect some folks come just to play the crystal bowls.

Try offering a similar experience to your students, or gather together a friendly group of Reiki practitioners. It’s a good thing. You’ll be glad you did.

Food for Thought & Action

From Eric Schlosser and Gary Hirshberg:
The FDA is on the brink of approving genetically engineered salmon for human consumption. This would be the first genetically engineered animal on supermarket shelves in the United States.
The salmon is engineered to produce growth hormones year-round that cause the fish to grow at twice the normal rate. The government already requires labels to tell us if fish is wild-caught or farm-raised—don't we also have a right to know if our salmon is genetically engineered? Without labels, we'll never know.
More than forty countries, including Russia and China, already require labels on genetically engineered foods. As Americans, we firmly believe that we deserve the same right to know what we are eating.
That's why I created a petition to U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on SignOn.org, which says:
Commissioner Hamburg, we urge the FDA to require the mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods. We have a right to know about the food we eat and what we feed our families, but under current FDA regulations, we don't have that ability when it comes to genetically engineered foods.
Polls show that more than 90% of Americans support mandatory labeling. Such near-unanimity in public opinion is rare. Please listen to the American public and mandate labeling of genetically engineered foods.
Will you sign the petition? Click here to add your name, and then pass it along to your friends:

Reiki for Relaxation

“You will never find time for anything.
If you want time, you must make it.”
                                                                                                                          ~Charles Buxton

The more I practice the loving art of Reiki, the more I crave the deep relaxation it affords.  So peaceful.  So comforting.  Making time to truly relax is something I owe myself: time just for me, time to return to balance, time to heal.

Reiki is a simple technique that I can do anywhere, anytime. It may seem strange that a technique used for relaxation and stress management proves rejuvenating, but it does.  Reiki keeps me functioning at a high level.  With renewed energy, I can more easily focus on tasks and think clearly.  With less procrastination, I achieve more. All by making time to relax.
